Dr. Linxiu Zhang is UNEP senior staff an d Director, UNEP-International Ecosystem Management Partnership (UNEP-IEMP), a collaborating center between UNEP and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). She is leading the implementation of a UNEP flagship programme focusing on the nexus of climate change, ecosystem services and sustainable livelihoods (CEL) through South-South cooperation. Prior to joining UNEP, Dr. Zhang was the Director of Center for Chinese Agricultural Policy of CAS, and Member of the Expert Committee of the Leading Group Office for Poverty Alleviation and Development of China’s State Council. Ms. Zhang had more than 30 years of policy research experiences covering areas of rural development, especially on employment and migration, land tenure, public goods and services provision, poverty alleviation and sustainable livelihoods, climate change adaptation and gender equality. Ms. Zhang holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from University of Reading in the U.K. She is a Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences.
