Co-Chair

Junguo Liu is a vice president of the North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power, and a Chair Professor at the Southern University of Science and Technology in China. His research involves several areas including hydrology and water resources, global environmental change, and ecological restoration. Recognized as a highly cited researcher and elected member of Academia Europaea (The Academy of Europe), he serves as the President of the Society for Ecological Rehabilitation of Beijing, and the Chair of the Union of Societies for Ecological Restoration and Environmental Protection in Beijing. Liu is an author of over 260 scholarly publications (including articles in Science, Nature and PNAS) and 7 books. He is/was an editor-in-chief, editor, associate editor or board member of 11 scientific journals. Liu is a Lead Author of the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report. His awards include: AGU’s Paul A. Witherspoon Lecture Award, the World Academy of Sciences Award, the Communication Award of the International Society for Ecological Restoration, and EGU’s Outstanding Young Scientist Award, China Youth Science and Technology Award. He is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
